Since
1976, the Company, then called G. Karkotis Macaroni
Factory Ltd, was among the leaders in exporting foodstuffs
in the countries of the Arabian Gulf, especially after
the re-opening of the Suez Canal, which facilitated
the exporting activity. Then, due to the occurrence
of the war between Kuwait and Iraq and due to the unstable
political and economic climate that existed in the countries
of the Middle East, the Company switched towards the
local wholesale and retail sale trading.
During the years 2001 and 2002, the
Company re-activated its exporting activities, making
numerous exports of oils, mainly olive oil towards
European
countries and Croatia. Among these exports, was the
first and the largest export of Cyprus Olive Oil to
Europe. The company bought 500 tons of olive oil ,
transferring them in bulk with its own fleet
of special containers/tanks, ISO approved, stainless
steel of 20 tons each. Then, it chartered a ship-tanker,
where with special stainless steel pumps, it transfuse
the oil, which sailed for Italy.
Having its own fleet of containers/tanks,
S/S, Foodgrade Standard, suitable for the transportation
of various foodstuffs as well as many years of experience
in loading and exporting oils, the Company is again
among the leaders in importing and is in position to
effect export of any sort of oil both towards Europe
as well as towards the Middle East.
In the photos below, the Company’s
containers/tanks can be seen in Limassol port, which
were used for the transportation and exporting of the
olive oil.
